Friday: Plenary Session II

The second speech in this session was Prof. Christine L. Borgman's "The role of librarains in E-science." She recently wrote a book at MIT press on Scholarship in the Digital Age. If you manage to get a copy before the end of the conference, Prof. Bergman will be pleased to sign it.

I personally benefited from her speech quite much, even if is wasn't that much on medical libraries, if not libraries at all. Instead she - astonishingly in very much the same way as Prof. Peltonen-Palotie at the Opening Ceremony - opens up a somewhat bright future for librarians: They could probably manage all the incredible data streams either arising from environmental of genetic studies - depending on the respective subject area. I've already a few names for this new job: biomathematics informationists or bioinformatics dataphysicians or datadoctors...
